Interior & exterior surfaces

The finished pattern begins with the surface below it.

Tile and stone work depends on more than the selected material. Substrate condition, preparation, water management, layout, transitions, thresholds and edge details all influence the installation. We assess the application and organize the work around the material, location and conditions of the project.

Terrace substrate prepared with an uncoupling membrane before natural-stone installation
01 · Preparation

Prepare the substrate for the application.

Interior wet areas, backsplashes, floors and exterior terraces do not all require the same preparation. The existing substrate and selected assembly are reviewed first. On this terrace, an uncoupling membrane formed part of the preparation before the natural-stone layout began.

02 · Interior tile

Plan the field, details and transitions together.

Showers, niches, benches, bathroom floors and kitchen backsplashes involve many visible intersections. Tile format, pattern, grout lines, openings and transitions are considered together so the finished surface is balanced around fixtures, cabinetry and edges.

03 · Natural stone

Carry the pattern across steps and thresholds.

Natural-stone installations require attention to format, colour variation, cuts and transitions. The completed covered terrace uses travertine in a French (Versailles) pattern, extending the pale stone palette through the main surface, broad steps and door thresholds.

01What tile and stone applications do you take on?

Our work can include shower walls and floors, bathroom floors, kitchen backsplashes, interior feature surfaces and selected exterior terrace, patio, step or threshold applications. The material and assembly must suit the location and existing conditions.

02Do you install large-format tile?

Large-format tile is part of our interior work. The substrate, flatness, tile size, layout, cuts and transitions are reviewed because these factors directly affect the finished installation.

03Do you work with travertine and natural stone?

Yes. Our completed terrace project includes natural travertine laid in a French (Versailles) pattern across the terrace, steps and thresholds.

04Is preparation included?

Preparation is defined for each project after the existing surface and proposed installation are reviewed. It can involve substrate correction, membranes, waterproofing or other steps appropriate to the application.

05Where is tile and stone work available?

We are based in the West Island and consider interior and selected exterior projects across the West Island and Greater Montréal, including Montréal, Westmount, Laval and surrounding areas.
